Early Rehabilitation

The Early Rehabilitation Unit at the Gemeinschaftskrankenhaus is an interdisciplinary inpatient facility and also part of acute care provision within the framework of normal hospital treatment.

This unit was originally established with federal and state sponsorship as a pilot project aimed at embedding essential rehabilitation facilities in an intervention-orientated acute care hospital.

The specific task of the early rehabilitation unit is to provide seriously ill patients with rehabilitation treatment as early as possible in their recovery process. This applies particularly to acute cases within the areas of neurology, neurosurgery and internal medicine, as well as following serious surgical interventions that have resulted in apparent loss of function or a severe reduction in physical or mental activity.
